Allison Brooks Janney, an American actress, was born in 1959. In the last three decades, her performances have received praise on stage and screen. Janney has received several awards, among them the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. The seven Primetime Emmy Awards were also awarded to Janney. She was also nominated for two Tony Awards. Janney was raised in Dayton, Ohio. She was born in and was raised in Boston. She was awarded a scholarship to take classes in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after she graduated from Kenyon College. Janney debuted on television during 1999. She performed the role of C. J. Cregg as part of NBC's political drama The West Wing from 1999-2006 which earned her the award for four Primetime Emmy Awards. Her role on her role in the Showtime show Masters of Sex, Margaret Scully, Janney won the Primetime Emmy Award 2014 for Outstanding Guest Actress In the Drama Series.
